How to Prevent a Fatty Liver Disease, a.k.a “Silent Killer

Nobody voluntarily wants to become overweight. Some people tend to get a lot of fat on their bellies. But do you know it is also stored on their liver as well? That’s called “Fatty liver”.

Fatty Liver Disease is a condition where excess fat builds up in the liver, making it difficult for the liver to function. 

FLD is the most common chronic liver condition in the U.S and about 25% of adults in the U.S.

The reason it is called “Silent Killer” is because there are no or few symptoms and slowly but surely the excessive fat can be stored meanwhile. 

The causes of fatty liver vary, but people with high BMI tend to get FLD based on a study

Here are some of the risk factors:
・High cholesterol
・Metabolic syndrome
・Type 2 diabetes
・Liver cirrhosis
・Hepatitis

If you think this only applies to overweight people, you are wrong. Even a slim person can have FLD from his/her unhealthy diet and lack of exercise. 

In addition, people who drink a lot of alcohol on a daily basis have a higher probability of getting FLD.

Symptoms:
・Loss of appetite
・Nausea / Vomiting
・Bloated belly
・Pressure on your liver

If you see the symptoms above for a long time, you are better off seeing a doctor for a blood test or UCT.

Symptoms, causes and risk factors of fatty liver disease

You can prevent and improve FLD by changing your unhealthy diet and exercise. 

Please see the following tips:
・Overeating and overdrinking
・Avoid eating until you feel full
・Avoid high-calorie food, snacks, sweets.
・Eat more steamed or strewed food
・Eat fiber-rich food such as oatmeal, avocado, okra, strawberry, orange
・Put more vegetables in your daily meal
・Drink 0.3 ~ 0.5 gallons of water on a daily basis
・Eat meals in proper order.
Vegetables -> Meat -> Rice/Noodles/Bread
・Exercise regularly. If you are overweight, you need to exercise more regularly like a 1-hour exercise 4 days a week.
・Tea – Oolong tea & puer tea (Heping decomposing fat), Hawthorn tea(Helping digestion), and rose tea(helping to keep calm) are recommended.
